《Chuang tzu》is a symbol of wisdom in the Chinese classical literature and art. Itwas spread so far and loved by millions of people.《Chuang tzu》is a grand writing. Inthis writing, there are so many imagoes of “the ugliness”. It was reflected the Chuangtzu’s Ugliness view and included in the China’s classical aesthetics field by Chuang tzuwhich labels the ugliness experience of ancient China. The scholastics pay attention tothe “ugliness view” in recent years and many people take up research the view, but theknowledge is endless. About this topic is required to be in-depth exploration.Firstly, Chuang tzu’s view of ugliness by internal and external factors mutualinfluence. There are two outside factors. One is the aesthetic habits of ancient civilization.The other is the way of thinking of ancient China. In ancient China, the attitude istolerated for the ugliness. Chinese nation becomes a “beauty and ugliness” nation bylong history and abundant experience. Chuang tzu’s view was formed and achieved.Meanwhile,Chuang tzu’s the thought was influence by the thought of Lao tze. Lao tzethought that the thing has two sides, as success and lack, rich and rush, straight andsurrender, ingeniousness and clumsiness, debate and dull etc. Chuang tzu and Lao tzeexpress the beauty and the doctrine through the ugliness. Chuang tzu opposed theConfucius’s thought of the goodness and the beauty. The human nature had beenalienated by Confucianism at that time. The Chuang tze saw the abuse and polarization ofhuman nature, so he expressed the things, nature, appreciation of the beauty and thethought. He was influenced by social disruption, politicization and thought. He thoughtthat the change could not prevent. Chuang tzu expressed to pursue the individualemancipation in his book.“The ugliness” was realized in this historical background andhis thought. There is a internal conditions that he break through the tradition.Secondly,the article discussed the “ugliness” view, human skeleton and grotesques.And also discussed the world outlook and thought through the view. He thought that theimportant thing was penman in his article. Everything in the world is origin of beginning.All the things on earth is not different. There is no difference between the beauty and theugliness. They are mutual transformation. Whether it is ugly, so long as it has internal vitality, it will be more and more beautiful. Meanwhile, the clus doctrine in philosophyand it was researched from the Equality of thing, view of life and death, conception ofnature. The article contains spread of vitality and inherent spirit and power.Thirdly,to discuss the relation of the beauty and the ugliness. In the 《Chuang tzu》,Chuang tzu portrays the ugliness and beauty. He discussed images of the grotesques andugliness. They have ugly appearance, but they have own life. The ugliness turns to theinternal beauty. The ugliness can turn to the beauty through naivety and value. At thesame time, it is different by the object, people and other things. They are relativity andthey are indiscrimination from expression.Fourthly, Chuang tzu opens up the ugliness in the classical aesthetics. It was made acomparison by western view. The article makes a comparison between the Chuang tzuand Hugo. They have some same points and different points. You can know aboutChuang tzu’s view and understand the western view. We know the Chinese and Westernculture by society, life and the universe.In a word, there is an “ugliness” field by Chuang tzu in the Chinese classicalaesthetics, it produces the aesthetic significance and it is not assignable. Chuang tzuexpanded the category of classical aesthetics and pointed out a road of life. It affects thepeople profoundly.
