Deliberations On Yang Bo-jun’s Annotation Of The Mencius

Mencius is the most important representative of Confucianism after Confucius. The Mencius which records the words and deeds of Mencius and his disciples, expresses his ideologies and theories, reflects the inheritance and development of Confucianism. As a classic of the Confucian school, interpretations of The Mencius was endless in the past dynasties.Yang Bo-jun’s Annotation of The Mencius taking merits of others and having his own particular opinions, has minimal impacts in nowadays, just as the Imprint of the book:"Mr. Yang Bo-jun’s Annotation of The Mencius which is known for its accurate and plain annotation, is one of the best Mencius’s annotating books, has a good reputation in the academic community and readers."I read this book and learned very much, but at the same time found that there were some errors. In this paper, I records original of The Mencius firstly, then lists Mr. Yang Bo-jun’s annotations, finally fills my deliberations.The whole paper is divided into two parts:The first part is the introduction.It introduces the ancient annotations of The Mencius firstly, then outlines the purposes of this paper.The second part is the body. I lists the errors of Annotation of The Mencius, and analyzes one by one.
