Nalan Xingde, an eminent writer of the Qing Dynasty, has a short life but works prolificand good at writing poems and Ci poems (a kind of classic Chinese poems). He is famousespecially for his Ci poems, among which Yin Shui Ci is his representative masterpiece andhas been appreciated and praised by the following generations. He is an aristocratic Manchu,but at home in Han traditional culture, which has astonished the later generations and wongreat respect from them. He is considered as the most prominent of the Qing Dynasty in thehistory of Ci poem writing although he is criticized by a few critics for lack of socialsignificance and for narrow vision of his works. He is outstandingly unique in Ci poem circleand enjoys an irreplaceable position in the Chinese literary circle thanks to his plain andsimple, emotional and sincere, lamenting and touching style.Imagery is an inevitable subject matter for the study of classic Chinese poetry and Cipoetry. Nalan Xingde’s expression of feelings and intention in Ci writing reflects acomplicated process of image selecting, processing and creating, which is full of emotion,suitable combination of psychic consideration and emotional experience. Therefore, images inhis works have life and vitality, for which Nalan Xingde is different from other Ci writers.The famous scholar Yan Dichang thought the development of Qing Ci can besummarized literati describe the history of the soul, he embarked on the main word "feeling"went to the recovery road.But Nalan Xingde’s Ci poems lights in the words as to fresh andclean, sentimentality and bright, who can be described as a pioneer in the Qing Dynasty"spirituality". His choice of imagery by moral nourishment of the spirit of traditional culture,is a mirror of the life course, which condense the life experience of his artistic life. His choiceof imagery in the Yin Shui Ci, often with natural talent.Starting the study with the perspectiveof the image in the all text of Yin Shui Ci.This paper starts with imagery as a study perspective and the whole text of Yin Shui Cias the study subject, and then elaborately classifies the images in Yin Shui Ci, because of theirdiversity and complexity, into several groups to emphasize the originality, representativenessand richness: incomplete images, maiden images, cold images and color images. Next, itanalyzes the common features and individual features of each group of images, interprets theslight differences of emotional expressions in image selection and goes further to the variouscreation forms of image groups in terms of logic order and spatial and cubic structure in order to explore the aesthetic features in image groups from a multiple perspective. Finally thepaper draws the conclusion that the beauty of images in Yin Shui Ci can be expressed andfound in pureness and trueness, lament and gorgeousness, accomplishment and virtue.
