The external promotion of Nalan Xingde's Ci,an important content of the program of teaching Chinese as a foreign language,makes it easier to translate and promote Nalan Xingde's Ci.The globalization brings not only opportunities but also challenges.On the one hand,the going-out strategy for Chinese culture and the enthusiasm of the global people for learning Chinese provides an unprecedented opportunity for Nalan Xingde's culture currently;on the other hand,the translation and promotion for Nalan Xingde's Ci is still in its infancy.At home and abroad,there is not enough attention to the translation and promotion of Nalan Xingde's works.What's worse,no one has even conducted a comprehensive and in-depth study for Nalan Xingde translation.Therefore,this has greatly hindered the promotion of Nalan Xingde's Ci.Thus,it is imperative to translate and promote Nalan Xingde's culture.This thesis takes Nalan Xingde's Ci translation as the research objects.Through literature research,it sorts out the domestic and foreign research status of Nalan Xingde's Ci and gets the basic features of Chinese and Western poetry theory.By the comparative analysis and empirical research,the paper compares Nalan's original text and translation and proposes the criteria of the criticism and appreciation of Nalan Xingde's Ci translation.Then,the chapter uses this criterion to judge the aesthetic value of Nalan's translation.Finally,based on the analysis above,the strategy and revelation of the English translation and external promotion of Nalan Xingde'Ci are put forward.This thesis is divided into four chapters to explore the English translation and external promotion of Nalan Xingde's Ci.The first part is introduction.This chapter elaborates the background and significance of the translation and promotion of Nalan Xingde's Ci and describes current situation of the study at home and abroad.Besides,the chapter explains the research method,which provides a clear logicalframework for this paper.The first chapter is the basic features of Chinese and western poetry translation theory.This chapter summarizes the process of Chinese and western poetry translation and lists the views of translators and sinologists in various periods.Finally,the chapter summarizes the basic features of Chinese and western poetry translation theory: Chinese poetry translation theory is abstract and subjective;western poetry translation has obvious periodical characteristics,which is related to western ideology and Policy to China.The second chapter is the contrast and analysis of Nalan Xingde's Ci translation.This chapter selects six poems of Nalan Xingde to analyze the differences between the original poems and the translation in terms of words,sentences,translation strategies and translation methods.Then it summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of the translation,which put the foreshadowing for following chapter.The third chapter is the criticism and appreciation of Nalan Xingde's translation.This chapter expounds the criteria of the criticism and appreciation of Nalan Xingde's Ci translation in terms of language differences,mistranslation and lexical expressions.The criterion is Abstract Standard-Concrete Standard.(Sincereness-Imagery,emotion,style,language)Finally,the chapter uses this criterion to criticize and appreciate the six poems of chapter three.The fourth chapter is the strategy and revelation of the English translation and external promotion of Nalan Xingde's Ci.In order to promote Nalan Xingde's Ci,this chapter mainly puts forward five basic strategies: first,winning support from the government,elite school,and the celebrity;second,building Nalan Xingde's research center;third,paying attention to overseas research and teachers,textbooks,teaching methods;forth,establishing the modern informational education system;fifth,developing Nalan Xingde's cultural industries.At the same time,the chapter proposes three suggestions for the translation and promotionof Nalan Xingde's Ci: first,setting an explicit goal for the translation and promotion;second,showing the background of the poem;third,fusing western translation and Chinese translation and promoting the modern transformation of Nalan Xingde's Ci translation.
