Wang Yi (1889-1956), style Xiao Xiang, named Jian An, was born in Nan Chang, Jiang Xi province, is a famous scholar in the period of the Min Guo. He graduated from Imperial University of Peking, and worked as a professor in several universities like National Central University, Private University of Nanking, Central Political School, etc. In1940, When National Chung Cheng University was founded, he was the dean of literature and history department and also the president of Literature Institute. He has a profound knowledge and well versed in Ci Study, Musical Temperament, Rhetoric, Calendar. His achievements in Poetry, Calligraphy and Seal Cutting have a far-reaching influence. His dozens of academic works, including Introduction to Chinese National Culture, History of Ci&Qu, General Theory of Yue Fu, General Survey of Rhetoric are famous and very popular both at home and abroad. This paper bases on my book, Chronological Biography of WangY i(Beijing, Xian Zhuang Press,2012),and takes its essence. The aim of the paper is to briefly review Wang Yi’s main life experience,and truthfully summarize his academic thoughts, books, poetry, friends, social activities in different times, then finally make a deep research of him.
