This thesis, based on the analysis of School Songs in the late Qing and early Ming Dynasty, explores the thought system of the enlightenment discourse of modern Chinese, especially the way of building "nation state". The final goal is to understand that modern Chinese intellectuals how to use the new way of social media and cultural spreading to build national state discourse, and guide China’s modern enlightenment.First, the paper has an overview on how School Songs, as the existence of music, goes beyond music aesthetic categories and falls into our history in the social context of modern enlightenment. Next, the paper, from the perspective of modern enlightenment, analyzes how nationalism mobilization builds the "nation-state", and how classical Chinese become a "nation state "from the original form of "the world". Finally, through the School Songs text analysis, the paper shows that how intellectuals as leaders of discourse for calling the "modern Chinese".This thesis, combined the theory of cultural research, political science, sociology of music, etc. through the analysis of the discourse, examines and value that how western modern enlightenment in the late Qing and early Ming Dynasty and China’s traditional culture intercourse and influence each other in the context of School Songs, and blend into a new national discourse landscape, thus to complete the national main body reconstruction. |
