The paper is based on an investigation of Cervantes Institute to gain experience of the aspect of language and culture transmission. In the process of globalization in the21st century, cultural soft power is a universal attention. Language and cultural communication activities become important means for countries to improve the cultural soft power. Therefore, the construction and development of the national language and culture exchange organization is particularly important. To investigate the Spanish cultural exchange organization-Institute Cervantes and to analyze its experience of the aspect of language and culture spread will contribute to the construction and development of the Confucius Institute in China.Cervantes Institute is the object of study of this paper. Firstly, combining the methods of literature review, data statistical analysis, this paper presents its teaching theory syllabus, curricula, instructional technology and teachers’training from the perspective of teaching, and describes the forms, contents, operations and technical means of cultural promotion activities from the perspective of intercultural communication. In addition, combining the Questionnaire on head of Beijing Cervantes Institute, this paper has an individual investigation of Beijing Cervantes Institute on the aspect of teaching situation and cultural promotion activities to get its main features. Finally, combining the feature of the two aspects of teaching and cultural transmission, it sums up the experience for the Confucius Institute and other international language promotion agencies.By researching on this topic, the paper draws some conclusions of the features of the aspect of language and cultural transmission:Firstly, the Cervantes Institute actively cooperates with the European authoritative organizations to carry out teaching, mainly in:to translate and study Common European Framework of Reference, made by European Council for making Curricula Plan of Cervantes Institute as its teaching theory syllabus; to participate actively in the project Lingu@net Europa, which is a kind of multilingual online learning resource; to take active part in the project EPG (European Prof i1ing Grid) sponsored by the European Commission to serve teaching training in Cervantes Institute. Secondly, Cervantes Institute makes full use of IT in teaching, mainly in the aspects of Network Virtual Classroom(AVE), Spanish in Spain(EEE) and so on. Thirdly, Cervantes Institute takes initiative in the cultural activities on the spiritual plan. Fourthly, Cervantes Institute makes full use of IT to carry out cultural transmission activities.In addition, by analyzing the features of Curricula Plan of Cervantes Institute, the project EPG, Lingu@net Europa, AVE and EEE, the paper firstly illustrates the great significance in the teaching in Cervantes Institute and indicates the aspect that we may learn from. Secondly, by analyzing the features of the cultural and transmission activities of Cervantes Institute, the paper sums up the experience of its cultural transmission. Finally, I hope this topic will be helpful to researchers of Confucius Institute as well as cultural exchange organization, I also hope it will be benificial for construction and development of language and culture transmission agency.
