The Interactive Research On Officials And Businessmen In The Late Ming Dynasty

With the development of times and changes of society, officials and businessmen began tointegrate with each other under the influence of internal and external factors although they belongedto two independent developmental social groups in the early formation of societies. And thisinteractivity and integration achieved a new summit in the Late Ming Dynasty. On one hand, the twonew groups began to accept each other, which not only caused new changes in official circles butalso brought new thinking patterns in business; on the other hand, the integration had a greatinfluence on the cultural development of late Ming Dynasty including people’s life, recreation andthought.This thesis takes the interactivity of officials and businessmen in late Ming Dynasty as the mainbreakthrough point and research core. The research and analysis of the thesis will begin from thefollowing aspects:(1) The developmental survey of the relationship between officials andbusinessmen before late Ming Dynasty, which concludes their relations and social functions indifferent periods.(2) The interactive expressions of officials and businessmen. It will analyze theofficials and businessmen’s thought changes from the perspectives of social environment, whichcontains both the internal factors and external factors.(3) The interactive reasons of officials andbusinessmen. The interactivity between officials and businessmen is a bidirectional behavior. Oneaims to take advantage of the other’s social position and wealth. This thesis concludes theinteractivity problem from the aspects of officials and businessmen, then analyze the reasons fromthe interactive reasons.(4) The interactive features and comments of officials and businessmenbefore late Ming Dynasty. Although their activities bring some negative influence to politics,business, and social atmosphere, it still has some positive significance. For example, officials engagethe business strongly impact traditional concepts of “emphasizing agriculture and despisingbusiness”, which changes the social position of the businessmen.In conclusion, both officials and businessmen take up quite important social positions and havegreat influences to social development. It has important significance for us to research thedevelopment of ancient social history by researching the two groups’ developmental conditions.
