The Relationship Of Meiniang’s Works With Japan And Japanese Culture

Mei Niang, a famous female writer in Manchurian literature, were called“Southern Ling and Northern Mei” together with Zhang Ailing in the1940s. Shehasn’t wriiten any books for a long period because of the relationship between herwork and Japan.As extensive researches were carried out on colonial literature, sheattracted the attention again since1980s. She studied in Japan twice, and then shepublished a lot of novels and translated many literary works in1940s. She wasawarded the Great East Asia Prize for Literature in1944. However, she was called “aJapanese spy” because of the close relationship with Japan. In1980s, she began tomodify her earlier works with the anti-Japanese topic embedded in.Mei Niang has a complicated relationship with Japan, then whether thisrelationship has influence on her writing?The present study aims to find the answer to this question.
