From the day of China’s accession to the World Trade Organization up until now, Chinahas enjoyed an gradual integration into the world track and is playing an ever increasinglymore important role on the world stage. Lots of English exchange activities especiallyinterpretation have become one of the most important bridges for the communication betweenChina and the rest of the world. The rapid rise in interpreters is seen whether it is in cultural, political and economic events or in science and technology, military and the field of tourism. The training of interpreter personnel as well as the interpretation itself has attracted more andmore attention from both society and the academic field. Compared with translation, theinformation processing of interpretation is characterized by the relatively short period of timeavailable for the interpreters to think (interpreters’ information processing). The translator’sL1and L2language competence and cultural knowledge, the cultural accumulation of theinterpreter, the individual cultural personality and the individual cultural psychologicalstructure will directly affect the cultural level and the effect of interpretation. The subject ofthis study comes from my mentor, Professor Yin Demo’s Project-"English LanguageCognitive Skills and Practice". Professor Yin Demo is the first person to propose the"bilingual dual-double structure” theory regarding adults’ foreign language learning in China. This theory is mainly about the interaction of the language-thinking structure system andknowledge-cognitive structure system of both native and foreign language in the process ofinformation processing. Based on Professor Yin Demo’s analysis of the function oflanguage-thinking structure system in the process of information processing and with thefocus on the influence of interpreters’ language competence and cultural accumulation on thethe process of interpretation, this paper explores the impact of interpreter’s culturalaccumulation on the mental activity of listening comprehension, short-term memory andlanguage expression in the process of interpretation and on the information processing ofinterpretation. And this paper is supported by theoretical research, instance analyzing, summarization and other research methods, trying to further prove the research subject thatcultural accumulation plays an important role in the information processing of interpretationand trying to attract enough attention of the interpreters as well as those who want to beengaged in the interpretation to cultural accumulation.
