This thesis discusses the difficulties of listening comprehension and memory in English-Chinese consecutive interpreting under the effort model, according to the effort model theory of Daniel Gile. Using the simulation of interpreting practice of Reagan’s speech as example, this thesis attempts to analyze the contradictions between listening comprehension and short-memory, and between short-memory and note taking in the first part of effort model, and to probe into the causes of the difficulties. According to the learning experience and the simulation interpreting practice of the writer, the thesis summarizes the strategies to overcome these difficulties, the training methods to improve the abilities of effective effort coordination of the interpreter, and the enlightenment for the future learning. Solving the problem of imbalanced effort coordination in consecutive interpreting is of great importance to improving the abilities of interpreting, and to improve the quality of interpreting. |
