Law101is a legal basic book for introducing the American legal system, mainlymaking a fundamental exploration for the amateurs. With a clear, vivid language, theauthor of this book presents the legal principles and legal opinions, making originallyboring and obscure legal knowledge understandable. The specific object of thetranslation is the Chapter4and the Chapter5in part.This is a translation project report. This report centers itself on its threetranslation processes—comprehension, expression and modification. It analyzes theproblems in translation process at pursuing the functional equivalence with thepurpose of exploring the appropriate strategies. The report is divided into five parts:The first part is a brief introduction to the translation project and the translationprocess; The second part is a brief introduction of Nida’s functional equivalencetheory; The third part is the analysis of the translation problems at the level ofvocabulary, sentence and discourse; The fourth part is the translation comprehensionfrom the perspective of the translation thinking, translation operation and applicationof translation theory; The fifth part is to make a summary of the report. The core ofthe report is the third and the fourth part.
