Chinese and Thai, belonging to Sino-Tibetan language family, are both featured by their numerous classifiers. However, the classifiers of the two languages have similarities as well as differences on usage and function. Thus with cross-language typology value, the classifiers of Chinese and Thai can be studied and compared in the typological frame, so that the study results can be applied in the Thai-Chinese teaching practice and used as reliable linguistic foundation for language teaching. This thesis mainly describes and compares classifiers in Chinese and Thai, analyzes their similarities and differences in classification, then based on it, find out the emphasis and difficulties in the Thai and Chinese classifier teaching process, and classifies the teaching extent levels. Besides, teaching principles and methods are put forward, experience is concluded from teaching design and experiment, which has been done in practice, on Thai-Chinese classifier teaching, teaching reflection is made accordingly and some suggestions are given on Thai-Chinese classifier teaching.
