The times we live in today is a time that imaging technology being highlydeveloped, picture acquisition and duplication being extremely convenient. Lensesare taking the place of our eyes and the alternatives instead of normal reading.Then it brought us more thoughts about how to do with the oil painting.Oil painting is experiencing the great changes under the new situation. Inrecent years, Chinese contemporary oil paintings are formed into a kind ofwatered-down light, weakening contrast, tends to take the plane technique ofexpression. And this trend has been accepted by more and more people, expressingthe new visual aesthetic experience.Plane oil painting as a basic feature of the avant-garde art, its idea is not onlythe critique of the Western classical art, but also a direct reflection of art whichshows the new visual relationship brought in by the modern industrial society.Since the Post-Impressionism to Cubism, Expressionism, Surrealism, even theMetaphysical School have experienced the exploration on the plane painting. Inthis process, some painters were also influenced by the impact of Oriental Art.This paper focuses on the morphological characteristics of the modern oilpainting language in different periods, by analyzing and then described theformation and development of the Chinese Contemporary Plane Painting, discussesthe characteristics of the plane painting. Through discussion, we can improve ourabilities and understandings in creating the painting. Plane painting broadensartistic form, and injects new vitality into the contemporary art.
