In the consumption society, consumption has become the leading power of socialoperation and people’s behavior purpose, affecting people’s way of life. Similarly, inthe field of culture, literary classic also suffered the consumption logic of theconsumption society. The new TV series of “A Dream of Red Mansions” seems tohave become an incident in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the cultural market.Both the TV series itself, or the creators and viewers, become participants in theincident, constructing the spectacle of classical consumption in the consumptionsociety.In the consumption society with thriving mass culture, classic consumption andclassic inheritance seem to be two sides of a coin. The way of classic consumptionbecomes a way of classic inheritance. On the one hand, classic consumptionencroaches on classic; on the other hand, it transmits the classic which is flooded bythe mass culture. So, the classic consumption and classic inheritance become into auntied body from a pair of contradictions.
