Animation is acomprehensive artistic form combining various artistic forms, which include literary arts,painting arts, musical arts, photographic arts and digital media arts. The combination ofChinese traditional painting arts and animation create the distinctive Chinese ink andwash painting animation.Chinese ink and wash painting animation has been widely acknowledged and highlypraised by people all over the world, due to the national character and originality. In theearly days, those Chinese ink and wash painting animation made by Shanghai AnimationFilm Studio led to a worldwide sensation, however, trailed off into silence in the decadesafterward. Although the technic, economy and society elements contribute to thisphenomenon, the renaissance of Chinese ink and wash painting animation requites moreattention and effort from all of us. Nowadays, digital technic innovate continually, theconflict between animation producing technic and economy is no longer a major problem.Therefore, the research in the development direction and aesthetic interest of Chineseink and wash painting animation has become particularly urgent and essential. With thebackground of Chinese traditional culture and aesthetics, this study examines the tint ofChinese ink and wash painting, trying to attract attention and reflection from successor.Findings and conclusions could be used and referred by other researchers.The tint of Chinese ink and wash painting originates from Chinese traditional aestheticsand traditional tinting arts. The tint of Chinese traditional painting is about emotional,ideal and civilized color, emphasizing character and cultivation. Chinese ink and washpainting that embodies Chinese traditional philosophy and aesthetics, whose tinting art isa reflection of the continuous Chinese traditional culture. Therefore, it is particularlysignificant to examine the tinting arts of Chinese ink and wash painting animation. Thisstudy examines Chinese traditional cultural and tint. Classic cases are conducted toanalyze the application of Chinese traditional painting tinting art in Chinese ink and washpainting animation. Finally, findings and conclusions indicate the aesthetics significanceof tint in Chinese ink and wash painting animation.
