A Research On The Design Of Ceramic Tableware In Song Dynasty Affect The Contemporary Design Of Ceramics For Daily Use

On literal comprehension level the word “table utensils”, usually refers to foodcontainers, which closely related to people’s lives, and its design, especially the mostcommon one occupies a pivotal role in our daily lives, which directly reflects the user’slife quality. Song Dynasty is an era with developed social productivity, unprecedentedprosperous economy and highly booming culture and art, and its table utensil’s designfavored by many people for the design itself looks concise and practical with nice shape,which is a shining pearl in the history of technology, especially its natural and pure stylewith simple and practical feature also profound cultural connotations, leading people’saesthetic trend. This article illustrates the design concept and connotation from ceramictableware in Song Dynasty by its design background, in different ware categories, as wellas different moldings, decorations, aesthetics and functions. In view of the situation thatcontemporary porcelain design products becomes rougher, this paper summarized theresearch about the design of “table utensil” in Song Dynasty through its moldings,decorations, aesthetics, and hopes to have a reference and enlightenment oncontemporary ceramic design.
