Ding Ling (1904-1986) and Kang Kyung-Ae (1907-1943) are respectively the most representative female writers in Chinese and Korean modern literature history. They expressed their own will and historical appeal via literature during the major historical changes from modern times to the contemporary era, and had similar social cultural context and same frustrated growth experience. In addition, they expressed enormous concern on the life and fate of females at the fringes of society from female perspective. Their novels focused on describing the fate of females, revealing female consciousness germinated at that era and illustrating the full and diversified female images. Taking the representative works of Ding Ling and Kang Kyung-Ae in the1920s and1930s as the center, this paper shall analyze the female images in the novels of such two writers applying the method of comparative literature and feminist literature and combining with the social context for the creation of the two writers and their creation career. Moreover, it shall investigate the female consciousness revealed in their works.This paper consists of five parts:Chapter I:introduction. This part shall mainly outline the general thought of the paper; and illustrate the key parts, theoretical method, novel ideas and article synopsis in the paper. In addition, it shall expound in detail on the research aim and meaning, domestic and overseas research status, as well as research contents and methods.Chapter II:comparison on the social context and writer female consciousness of Chinese and Korean female novels in the1920s and1930s. Firstly, it shall elaborate the rising of female issues and its process starting from two aspects, one is female social reality under semi-colonial and semi-feudal society of China, the other is the female social reality during the colonial period of North Korea. Secondly, it shall expound on the characteristics of female consciousness of Ding Ling and Kang Kyung-Ae in the1920s and1930s.Chapter III:the analysis and comparison on female images shaped in the early period works of Ding Ling and Kang Kyung-Ae. Firstly, rural female image; secondly, intellectual female image, which includes negative intellectual female image and positive intellectual female image; thirdly, prostitute image; fourthly, loving mother image.Chapter IV:revealing of female consciousness. Firstly, the different concern on female consciousness; secondly, different route of "Nora type" betrayal consciousness; thirdly, different expression on sexual-love consciousness.Chapter V:conclusion. This part shall briefly disentangle the general thought of this paper, and summarize the similarities and differences of the novels of Ding Ling and Kang Kyung-Ae. Moreover, it shall put forward the results and insufficiencies of this research and propose the research ideas.
