This paper aims to deepen the study of mass culture of Frankfurt school, to strive for the comprehensive interpretation of popular culture study in the school. In the background of western developed industrial society, the Frankfurt school is based on the theory of reification alienation theory of Marx, Lukacs, combining the early study of the culture idea, launched the study of popular culture. Study of Frankfurt popular culture partyformed a kind of Horkheimer, Adorno mainstream criticism, they in the psychologicaldimension, art aesthetic dimension, and political dimensions and technical rationality ofpopular culture has the commodity, homogeneity, deceptive and manipulative functionanalysis and criticism. In the school to mass culture holds a critical dimension, with Walter Benjamin as the affirmative discourse leading appeared in the study of popular culture in the process of Frankfurt school, Lowenthal and Marcuse also deviated from the mainstream criticism.Study of mass culture of Frankfurt school is the product of specific historical period, historical limitations of the study, but undeniable is, their criticism of the mass culture has its rationality, and the understanding has important implications for the popular culture. In this paper, using the method of comparison, the study of mass culture of Frankfurt school and later analyzed, revealed in the public situation of culture globalization trend of mass culture of Frankfurt school, points out the significance of mass culture of Frankfurt school in our country is booming in the mass culture.
