As all we know, with the development of society, mass culture haveproduced a more and more profound influence to us. To awareness andunderstanding mass culture is an important part to us for buildingspiritual civilization. Frankfurt School, as an important contemporaryWestern society famous for its theoretical critical of society, and themass culture critical theory is the most important part of the FrankfurtSchool critical theory. Therefore, understanding and interpretation of theFrankfurt School critical theory of mass culture has far-reachingsignificance.As China’s market economy and new media’s development, China’smass culture has gradually rise and prosperity. Since the early1990s,many Chinese scholars began to study the theory of mass culture, in thesestudies they concerning the evaluation of Chinese contemporaryconsumer culture, Frankfurt will be widespread public description of thetheory of cultural criticism-evaluation framework of the machinery usedin china criticized.This essay with the start of the Frankfurt School leaders fromvarious angles and research carried out elaborate Frankfurt School criticaltheory of mass culture, interpretation and understanding of the mainideas and Theory of the Frankfurt School critical theory, popular culture,and a comprehensive system of analysis of Marcoux plugs, Adorno, andBenjamin ’s critique of popular culture at all levels. Next, the paperdiscusses the contributions and limitations of the Frankfurt School criticaltheory of mass culture, and on the basis of the status quo ofcontemporary Chinese popular culture analysis, focused on the revelationof the Frankfurt School critical theory of mass culture of mass culture,and then combined with China ’s national conditions of the proposedconstruction depth study of popular culture with Chinese characteristics,the way and suggestions.
