The thesis mainly focuses on the analysis of composition and playing methods on Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise in E Flat, Op.22by F.F. Chopin. There are four sections of the thesis. In the first section, the biography of Chopin and information about polonaise has been introduced. In the second section, composition analysis has been explored through creation background, writing style, musical form analysis to realize the conceptual grasp on the musical style of the whole piece. The third section is about the analysis of performing on the piano on techniques and musical treatment. The technique analysis consists of the practice methods on double notes staccato, ornaments, single-tone scale and chord. The musical treatment includes the analysis of rhythm, pedal, speed and expression marks. For the last part, the thesis states the acoustic versions by pianists and briefly introduced their performing styles.
