The issue of public life has always been at the brim of rural study. With theaccelerating process of the rural city, rural life has changed a lot, but, theimprovement of material didn’t drive the advance of cultural life. While, micro villagepublic life has become the facts that academic circles have to pay more attention.Village, is a relatively closed space, living in this space for a long time, peoplehave created their own culture, just like folk art. To a large extent, as a kind ofcollective entertainment the folk art reflects the collective spirit and culture of avillage. As a symbol folk arts of Liulin, the prosperity and decline of flower-drumimpact on local public life directly. In the years, when entertainment resources areextremely deficient, Liulin flower-drum was the only form of entertainment. As longas villager in slack season they would gather to learn the flower-drum, almosteveryone, passed on from generation to generation, and the performances were heldduring the holidays grandly per annum, which construct the intimate public life. Butthe Cultural Revolution shortly after founding a state and the market economicdevelopment, people lost the time and opportunity to gather. The villagers have tofollow the pace of the economy selfishly. As a kind of pure entertainment,flower-drum will spend a lot of time and energy, the performance need fourteenpeople, which gradually further apart from the speeding up of life rhythm. The lack ofstaff and economic pressures lead flower-drum gradually declined, in the late ninety’sand early twenty-first Century it had disappeared. Fortunately, coincides with theprotection of intangible cultural tide, when flower-drum in the dying of the edge.Liulin flower-drum in gradually restored with the efforts of government, the culturalidentity has been enhanced through the recovery of flower-drum. As an entertainmentof the community which united all the villagers, the prosperity and decline of Liulinflower-drum influences the public life directly.
