The paper mainly studies the problems in body concept of the medieval literarythought in the view of body concept research. In the field of literary thought, the bodyconcept of medieval Ages is more reflected in this period of the Wei, Jin, relating toall outlook of today’s body value, the body properties of the literary aesthetics field,the body rhetoric in art criticism and the aesthetic significance of it.There are five parts in the paper. The introduction mainly explains the reasons forchoosing the topic, the significance and the results of previous studies as well asresearch thoughts and methods. In the first part, it analyses bodily concept in thecontext of Western and Chinese culture, and considers bodily concept of Westerncountries as theoretical mirror to study that of ancient time of china as well as relatedaesthetic problems of Literary and Art.In the second part, the paper tells the establishment and its effects of outlook ofbodily value; at the same time it also demonstrates the historical evolution of bodilyconcept in the period of Wei, Jin. The scholars in Wei and Jin succeed in thetransformation of body, establishment of bodily aesthetic value and its social effects.In the third part, the essay contains the character of body in the category of ancientliterary aesthetics and introduces the theory of “Wenqi”,“Qihua” on body,“vividspirit’ and so on.In the fourth part, it describes the body rhetorical in ancient Chinese art criticism,studying on the effects of “character “in the view of Art criticism, the body tendencyunder the view of Art as well as the body properties of the theory of book and art.And then it tells the historical significance of ancient Chinese body aesthetics, mainlybasing on the aesthetic formation of body concept.
