Research On Chen Xu Jing’s Thought Of Modernization

Chen Xujing was a famous sociologist, educator, historian, ethnologist,cultural scientist, once in Sun Yat-Sen University and Guangzhou JinanUniversity, vice-president and president. Especially the20th century,30years tojoin in on the road to modernization of Modern China the great debate, formedits unique modern thought, for today’s China’s modernization drive hasreferential significance.Based on Chen Xujing’s writings, collected works of archives and documentsas the basis, based on existing research results of academia, divided into threepart systematically discusses Chen Xujing’s modernization thought. The first part,starting from the life of Chen Xujing, combined with the times, analyzes theobjective conditions of Weng Wenhao’s modernization thought production andsubjective factors. The second part focuses on the interpretation of Chen Xujing’smodernization thought content. The development road of modern China’smodernization, Chen Xujing advocated to realize industrialization, urbanization,development to drive the development of city village, walk "to the industrialcountry" road. In the aspect of culture, Chen Xujing to Chinese traditionalculture lag and monotonic as the breakthrough point, demonstration of modernChinese to realize the change from traditional to modern people, is a prerequisiteto achieve cultural modernization, westernization is the way to realize thecultural modernization. In the aspect of education, and adapt to culturalwesternization, put forward the education westernization, thoroughly modern inorder to achieve the educational criticism education,"China","national", andpoints out that the development of university education, to encourage thestudents, is the key and the way of the modernization of education. In politics,advocating sovereignty thought, that sovereignty can be divided, this is ChenXujing cornerstone of democratic political thought in modern China; discussesrealize democratic politics must oppose dictatorship, democraticconstitutionalism is the core of Chinese political modernization. The third partfrom Chen characteristics, the modernization of ideological significance andlimitations on Chen Xujing’s modernization thought are analyzed. In order toWesternization as the main line, to the modernization of education in order toopen the door of the modernization, keys are the two main features of ChenXujing’s modernization thought. The positive significance of Chen Xujing’smodernization thought is to promote the development of Chinese educationmodernization, enriched the modern Chinese modernization thought and politicaldemocracy, and provide a useful reference for the modern China agriculturalmodernization, but due to the limitation of the times and individual cognition, Chen Xujing’s modernization thought there is a "misunderstanding absolutethinking Westernization", ignore the fundamental role of economicmodernization and modern China on the modernization of inherent limitations.In short, however, in the process of modern history of China, Chen Xujing’smodernization thoughts to save the nation, change the backward, poor situation,is to explore the way how to realize the important achievements, the statenational modernization thought, enrich the ideology of modern China’smodernization.
