As soon as China entered the twelfth “national economy” and “social development”five-year plan, deepening the “reform and opening up policy”, and accelerating thetransformation of the mode of economic development are becoming imminent and important.The traditional and unilateral pursuit of economy causes great damage to the humanenvironment and the natural environment, therefore, the problems of cultural loss, moraldegradation, raged haze, and freshwater pollution come out and have to face. During thefurther increase of the gap between the rich and the poor, the social instability factors arehighlighted. All of those directly point on the development concept of “questingproductivity and production efficiency”.When we are in the reflection of “whether ourdevelopment is a method or a purpose”, Denis Goulet in the "Ethics of Development," giveshis rational, and full of humanistic wisdom development concept, it indicated that the purposeof development is questing ‘better life’.This paper describes the development of a comprehensive ethical thought Denis Goulet’s.First, they set forth to develop a truly comprehensive connotation and social development asthe theme summarizes the development of ethical thought Denis Goulet’s. Followed by DenisGoulet beautiful view of life explained to respect, freedom, survival for the three elements, acomprehensive exposition of the concept of the good life Denis Goulet’s.He also creatively presented that “better life “means having enough in the material andmore in the spirit. His ethics of development pays full of attention to the poor people anddeveloping countries, he advocated that respect for the culture, respect for beliefs, and for theown development ethical issues need to be considered by adjusting measure to localconditions, thus,consequently to obtain an overall comprehensive and sustainabledevelopment. His point of view is not only has similarities with the scientific developmentconcept of China, but also has its unique humanistic feeling. This paper attempts throughcomprehensive analysis of Denis Goulet’s development ethics, to provide differentperspective for the economic, cultural, political and social stability and other issues which have been met in the development of our country. Especially, this paper will present a uniqueperspective to achieve development, culture and religious can be compatible with each otherand to promote the cultural construction of China, as well as, to encourage the ethnic andreligious harmony.
