Honesty,as the basic standard of Chinese moral ethics and important categoryin Chinese philosophy, has been the play an important role in social life, economic,and political areas for thousands of years. However, with the rapid development ofthe socialist market economy, a variety of dishonesty appears in all areas ofsociety. The real reason is that Chinese traditional thought cannot adapt to thesituation caused by the development of society and economy. The phenomenon oflacking credit not only happens in China, but in the western such as politicaldeception and economic fraud under the background of economic globalization.The modern western concept also exposed its limitations. So, the author discussesA comparative study of Chinese and Western culture of honesty seeks to establishthe new social credit culture system that suitable for China’s national conditions.In this paper, comparative study is based on the analysis of Chinese and Westernculture of honesty combined with historical data and method of unification oflogic and history. The paper consists of three parts: the first part, I divide andcombine the formation and evolution of the integrity of Chinese traditional inorder to clear the historical development process; then analyzes and reveals thebasic connotation, main characteristics and historical limitations of traditionalhonest thought so that obtain the overall understanding; at last put forward andprove modern transformation of traditional honest from the necessity, possibilityand other specific ways. The second part, I explore the historical origin anddevelopment of western modern ideas of good faith, clarify its connotation andsignificant features which are different from the East, and points out its inherenterrors and defects, so that introduce that the modern western concept of honesty isalso facing new transformation trend. The third part, I compare the Chinese andWestern cultural of honesty, reveal the relationship of similarities and differencesand the origin of difference, clarify their inherent superiorit y or relative progress,put forward the complementary advantages of both and establish comprehensiveinnovation based on the complementary advantages. Through complementary andinnovation, modern moral and ethical system and perfect social credit systemshould be established so that to overcome the lack of honesty and build "IntegrityChina".The characteristics of this article, first of all, compared with the similar research,the thesis is more systematic. Most domestic research about Chinese and Westernconcept of honesty, the scope of comparative is narrow and lack of theoreticaldepth. However this paper makes a thorough exploration and analyze specifically.This is not only reflected in the study of Chinese and Western concept of honesty,but come up with difference of complementary and integrative innovationprinciple in Chinese and Western culture of sincerity through the comparison, and reflected on the reflection and positioning of the western modern credit concept.The spirit of contract as the core of the western concept of integrity is thedevelopment of human civilization achievements, but it lacks the support ofrational value. With the development of modernization, the western concept ofintegrity gradually exposed its defect. Therefore, contract integrity must besupplemented by moral integrity, that is, western modern credit concept is facingthe trend of modern transformation of backward.
