The open people living in the Tang Dynasty love horses very much more than anyother dynasty. Due to the advocate of horse in Tang Dynasty which led various kinds ofart based on horses in different forms. It is also widespread in the horse as the subject ofstone carving in the Shan Xi Tang Mausoleum carved stone. The eighteen imperialmausoleums which built in the territory of Shan Xi, carving horse appeared with twokinds of forms, including the war horse carved stone and stone carving winged horses.And Shan Xi Tang Mausoleum carved stone horse has completed carving time system,makes other forms of art slightly smaller in the Tang dynasty.Shan Xi Tang Mausoleum carved stone horses is directly served for the ruling class.It is specific works of art which not only has the memorial sculpture but also has theceremonial sculpture. Although they belong to different types, the column purpose isdifferent. But they all sends out a strong sense of rhythm with decorative. Whether it isstone battle horse or winged horses carved stone, it has sculpture natural physical horsefeature fusion of rich imagination. So this makes these horses form a pair of veryexquisite decorative images. In addition, it is locally with carving horse,the scroll grasspattern and moire image, the adornment such as image make decorative stone horsemore rich exquisite and distinct. The proper decoration images also make Shan Xi TangMausoleum carved stone horse has the rhythm of life, let the art imagination and artisticperformance obtained the perfect combination. This article breaks a behavior of usingmacroscopic research method to study Tang Emperors’ Mausoleum in Shan Xi. Itselects a point of view to proceed from decorative image. It starts from decorativeimage of Tang Emperors’ Mausoleum in Shan Xi. Through the study of evolution abouteighteen seats carved stone horse decoration images of Tang Emperors’ Mausoleum in Shan Xi,it puts points connected into line. Through this evolution reflects therelationship between it and society of Tang Dynasty. Because of the particularity ofcarved stone shape with decorative images, it is affected by the development of thesociety at that time. It is changed with the social development of Tang dynasty. Shan XiTang Mausoleum carved stone horse has experienced initial, mature period, continueddevelopment period, decay period of evolution. This evolution process kept a surprisingunification and synchronicity with the different part of Tang dynasty which shows theprosperity in the depressed feature in this period.
