Study On Semantic Selation Of The Modern Chinese Serial Verb Structure Based On The Corpus

Based on the systematic study of a large-scale real text corpus of modern Chineseserial verb construction, semantic structure type and semantic characteristics, we can verifythe existing studies and clearly define the scope of the serial verb construction andsemantic relations.This paper adopts qualitative and quantitative and form with meaning methods. On thebasis of tagged corpus, Seven kinds of structure type for general serial verb constructioncan be concluded:first,VP₁happens before VP₂of time; second,VP₁expresses the way ofVP₂third,location; fourth,reason; fifth,condition; sixth,state; seventh,VP₂representsVP₁.There are "to be","ba","passive","come"and "go"types of particular serial verbconstruction.What’s more, I classify syntactic semantic feature between the preceding andthe latter verb of general serial verb type scientifically, detailed and comprehensively.Andmake decision and discover the law from the statistics of various types of serial verbconstruction and semantic relations.For the general type of serial verb construction,VP₁can change to "in a timeof…",formalize to "by way of…",and put into the frame of "in the place of…".Furthermore, we can add "because…"before VP₁.The relationship between VP₁and VP₂iscondition and acting.That is to say VP₁and VP₂is accompanied by action orstate.Last,VP₁VP₂can turn to be the relation of "purpose-results".This paper systematically summarizes the modern Chinese serial verb structure andspecial species serial structure of semantic structure, and analyze its syntactic structure andsemantic relation systematically and deeply.This article can make up for the insufficient of former Chinese serial verb construction, grammatical structure and semantic relations, reflect syntactic and semantic combinationand unification,enrich and develop Chinese grammar theory, build a modern Chinese serialverb semantic structure system reflecting the real text for Chinese information processingand deepen foreign students’ understanding on modern Chinese serial verb constructiontype structure understanding. And finally push up the development of teaching Chinese as aforeign language.
