The Research Of Serial-verb Construction In New Saying Of The World

As one of the very important linguistic marital in medieval Chinese, New Saying of the World has its own linguistic style,such as simple and smart.lt was the records of spoken Chinese in medieval Chinese. We choose serial-verb construction in this book as our study subject. This thesis has five chapters. We describe and analysis serial-verb construction in systemically from the syntactic and semantic level. Besides, we compare New Saying of the World to Shi Ji about the same construction.The first chapter is introduction, in which has two sections:the first section introduces the writer and linguistic value about New Saying of the World, present the study situation of this book.The second section of the thesis introduces the research contents, methods and research significance.The second chapter mainly refers to verb categorys in New Saying of the World by the semantic&syntactic standard.Also we explain the recognize standard about serial-verb construction in New Saying of the World on the basis of the research achievements by other scholars.The third chapter basically description and analysis the syntactic structure of New Saying of the World.According to whether there is a conjunction or not,there are two general classes, according to the categories of internal different tectonic into a number of small.Finally from the number of verbs, syllable and combination collocation,we summarize the characteristics of the syntactic structure.The fourth chapter is the semantic relationships between verbs, semantic category of the subject and the semantic roles,such as semantic direction of adverb, and so on.Chapter5we compare New Saying of the World to Shi Ji from the aspects syntactic structure and semantic relationships.Especially several trend-verb conditions changes are compared.We observe and analysis the changes and development of the serial-verb construction in medieval Chinese.Finally there is the conclusion, which provides a summary, puts forward the conclusion and deficiency of this theis.
