Swastika pattern is one of the traditional Chinese auspicious decoration patterns, which is the representative geometric pattern with most expressiveness and inclusiveness. It has flexible structure forms and rich moral meanings, in which Swastika pattern has ascent to a more mature stage, showing unique charm of Chinese traditional auspicious decoration patterns. This paper will analyze the basic concept of Swastika pattern and discuss the development origins from the external form and internal semantics. Also, the basic constituent elements and the skeleton structure under the traditional forms, and the reflected overall visual features on this basis will be discussed. Based on the analysis of swastika pattern, its system can be divided into single structural symbols and combined symbols, of which the signified and signifier complete the auspicious meaning. Combined with the special Chinese cultural concept, this paper will clarify social ideals and aesthetic pursuit of mankind of Swastika from the traditional Chinese auspicious culture. Based on the theory of geometric pattern combination form of different kinds of vivid animals, Swastika carries the real desires of people. The reflected plain emotional expectations cover all aspects of people’s daily life and become the ideal faithful chronicler and spokesperson for people’s life. From the development of art symbol form of Swastika, it received from the design style of Buddhism, but it still develops and changes along with the main vein of our nation’s traditional culture. Just because of its compatibility with traditional Chinese art and cultural spirit, it was able to make the structure continue reproduction breed in an endless succession and make its auspicious implied meaning hand down from generation to generation.
