With the socioeconomic development and the reform and opening up to theoutside, more and more tourists and businessmen come to China. Hotels, as temporaryplaces for them, boom quickly. Business hotels are especially welcomed for theyprovide specialized services for different business groups. However, some poor qualitytranslation has prevented the development of business hotels. In order to improve thequality of the translation to further improve the competitiveness of the hotels, theauthor conducts a study on the existing translation of business hotel introduct ions.Currently, there are some studies on the C-E translation of hotel introductions;however, most studies are about tourist hotels and star hotels. This paper studies thetranslation of Chinese business hotel introduction versions and the research focuses arethe translation errors and countermeasures of the existing translation of business hotelintroductions.All the original English and Chinese versions provided in this paper are from thehotel websites or brochures. Literature research and description method, case analysisand comparative study are adopted in this paper. Through the research the author findsthat the translation errors in existing translation mainly are linguistic translation errors,pragmatic translation errors and cultural translation errors. And on the basis of theanalysis of these errors the author puts forward the “target reader-oriented” translationstrategy and four translation methods, namely addition, abridgment, adaptation andreconstruction.This study aims to provide some references for subsequent translators, improvethe translation quality of business hotel introductions, and further improve thecompetition of the hotels.
