Study On The Style Of Xu,Peidong’s Music Pieces

Xu, Peidong, the famous songwriter in China, has created a great deal ofmusical compositions, in which diversified musical elements and distinctcharacteristics of the times and nationalities are included. Throughout his creations,there are all kinds of popular songs, folk songs, art songs, and together with sometheme songs specially designed for some TV shows and films. Lots of his works haveturned out to be very popular and enduring songs, which deeply affect the growth ofthe new generation of Chinese songwriters, and contribute to the development ofChinese music.Since the reform and opening policy, the creation of Chinese songs has entered into a new era of prosperity, but the research about the works of high-yield songwriters,such as Xu, Peidong and Gu, Jianfen, are very limited, especially for the style study ofXu, Perdong’s songs. Because Xu has just encountered the new environment ofChinese reforming, we could read a special word in almost all his works, which is the‘new’, there is a ‘new’ in his subjects, a ‘new’ in his style, and a ‘new’ in his melody.It can be said that his works reflected the comprehensive style of diversification,nationalization, modernity and creativity, playing a highly important role in thecurrent creation of music in China.Based on the study about the features of Xu, Perdong’s music creations,especially discussing some of his representative songs in this paper, it is concludedthat Xu, Perdong has deeply investigated the Chinese national music culture, andcomprehensively dopted the melody, creating style, nationality and modernity. Hecompromises the national music elements, art song diversifications, art songpopularities into the popular songs, reflecting the leading spirit of current Chinesesongs.This paper discusses the point from the following aspects.Chapter one: Xu, Peidong’s music career and his main music creations. Xu,Peidong’s music career and his major works are briefly introduced in this chapter.Chapter two: The features of Xu Peidong’s creations. From the perspectives ofcreativeness, and the comprehensive use of national music elements, art songdiversifications, art song popularities in the popular songs, this paper discussedaround several points and disclosed his original writing style.Chapter three: The inheritance of the traditional Chinese spirit in Xu, Peidong’ works. Comprehensively discusses the inheritance and innovation of thetraditional Chinese spirit in Xu, Peidong’ works.Chapter four: Resistance of the vulgar network songs and advocacy of thehealthy network music. By discussing the aspects of both resisting the vulgar songsand advocating the healthy songs, the contribution of Xu, Peidong’s songs to Chinesemusic is reflected in this chapter.
