The relation of castration and Literature seems to exist for a long time, but rarely involved in a review. Been able to realize this problem is’ on the one hand because of the author’s own reading experience, and on the other hand is given by the inspiration which to discuss issues related to the books and papers. This thesis is focused on the theme of castration and remodeling, and concrete on three main characters——Chatterley, Bovary and Kalenin. In order to describe their being "emasculated" characterizations, explore why they were "castrated", reach to reshape their image and finally to construct a more reasonable family ethics purpose, the author creat this paper. This thesis is divided into three parts, the first part has "Chatterley" as an example, which to discusse the literary works image of male physical handicap and to study men’s living conditions in the form of the "castration" and further investigation of appears’ reasons. This section focuses on two topics:First, discussing the special relationship between son and father as well as son and mother, as the central theme of "castration anxiety" and "Oedipus Complex" enshrined "castration" formed an important reason——fearing of his father’s and mother’s attachment; Second, combination of Lawrence’s own experience, to explore the Lawrence "castration fear " in the projection of the works of his characters," castration " is an important reason. The second part has Bovary as an example, to discusses the image of the weak character of the men appeared in the literary works as well as comments Bovary’s neglect and injustice. This part is mainly composed of two topics:First, revealing Bovary’s "aphasia " status, and further analysis of its causes——too much favor of For Emma; The second is to focus on social-cultural-historical school’s criticism and the feminist theory on Bovary "castration", and then explore the political purpose of theory construction ambition hidden behind "castration".The third part has "Kalenin" as an example, which is to discusses this image’s multiple "castration" in the works, as well as in a review by the survival situation. The study focused too much on "Anna",but little for "Kalenin",so the analysis of its causes is important. This part consists of three main topics:First, a description of the double "castration " of physical and spiritual on Kalenin, face to demonize and loss of spiritual vitality, second is the double "castration" given by reviewer’s and author’s, the French narratologists Greimas’"role model" theory used for careful reading of text works, excavations of Kalenin’s "castration" departure from the text; Third, from the text empathy, thus revealing social-cultural-historical school’s criticism, especially feminist scholars’ misreading of this image, then to restore his true colors. The theoretical framework of the thesis is by psychological theory and narrative theory, then I use "New Criticism" faction to re-interpret the work, closely around the central theme of castration and Literature, re-shaping three characters——Chatterley, Bovary and Kalenin, and drawing my own conclusions and opinions.
