Textbooks or coursebooks are of great importance in the learning process and have been regarded as the main teaching resources. This thesis evaluates the coursebook Medical English commonly used by clinical department undergraduates in most medical colleges, using the influential Materials Evaluation System as the supportive theory foundation, aiming to combine English and medical knowledge organically and achieving the best teaching results. But the articles concerning Materials Evaluation of specialized English or professional English are not so many in China, especially Medical English, so we ought to take much more reasonable factors into account and try to make the evaluation process more efficient and more instructional while teaching this interdiscipline.The study initially reviews the development of Materials Evaluation System in different stages, and makes a comprehensive display of the coursebook Medical English. In this process, the author analyzes the structure of the book, the purpose of the editors, terminology features, grammar, reading skills and so on from the aspect of coursebook, teachers and learners. In order to make this evaluation less biased, questionnaires and interviews are given to the students and interviews were administered to Medical English teachers. The results of the surveys generally correspond with the author’s judgment in the evaluation.With the data collected and evaluation research, the author makes a conclusion, pointing out the strong and weak points of the coursebook. There are still some flaws in the coursebook needed to be corrected or elaborated.With the popularity of English for specific purposes, thesignificance of EPS educatioin gradually catches the sight of teachers and learners. With out research, teachers and learners who are related to this field can make better and more scientific decisions when choosing among the teaching materials and make better teaching adaptaions.
