Analysis Of Du Zhaozhi’s Works A Memorial Ceremony For Mausoleum Of Genghis Khan

Du Zhaozhi is a famous composer in China. After his graduation in the composition department of the Central Conservatory of Music, he forwent the job in a research institute which can provide a superior condition for further study. Instead, he came to Inner Mongolia with the pursuit of music and dream. Despite all the difficulties, he entrench himself in this frontier, and played an important role on promoting the Mongolian music. Mr Du Zhaozhi lived in Inner Mongolia for decades, during that period, he had not only collected a large amount of folk songs, but also created a lot of excellent music works. His works have wide and rich contents, as well as strong national sense with strong appeal.Symphonic poem " A memorial ceremony for Mausoleum of Genghis Khan" is an excellent music work which created by Mr. Du Zhaozhi in1982.The composer was inspired by Gen Gi Khan’s eventful years on battlefield, Mr Du took war and peace as thinking points, to create this outstanding symphonic work that combined both Mongolian cultural and characteristic national music.My dissertation takes Mr. Du Zhaozhi’s symphonic poem " A memorial ceremony for Mausoleum of Genghis Khan" as the research object, it is divided into four parts.The first part mainly introduces the important stages of Mr. Du Zhaozhi’s life and career, includes his life and education, as well as cultural and political backgrounds for each creative periods.The second part presents the historical and cultural backgrounds of the Mausoleum of Genghis Khan, and introduces how the sacrificial culture was formed. It also records how Mr. Du Zhaozhi’s creation concept was developed and influenced by Mongolian history and culture during his creative process.The third part mainly deals with the musical analysis of " A memorial ceremony for Mausoleum of Genghis Khan", this part does not only include the analysis of musical structure, harmony, orchestration and other major musical main bodies, but also summarize its artistic characteristics. Finally, my work addresses oneself to the spirit connotation and characteristic style of this music work, summarizes its musical content and style, in order to reflect the Mr. Du Zhaozhi’s musical aesthetic tendency.
