The Research On Rhetorical Techniques In Japanese TV Anime

Japanese TV animation had a head start in animation producing, starting from thenineteen sixties, it has been a new pattern of arts expression which spread rapidly allaround the world. In recent years, domestic anime industry has been developing veryfast. The total number of TV animation has surpassed Japan and the United States tobecome the world’s largest producer. However, the advantage on the quantity can notremedy the deficiency on quality. Among all of these works, few of them arecompetitive by the world’s animation standard. This phenomenon inevitably makesthe development of the industry weak and sluggish.In my thesis, I took graphic language symbols and rhetorical techniques as abreakthrough to investigate and summarize the rhetorical techniques in Japanese TVanimation. First of all, through the discussion of Japanese anime products, I find thatnothing but improved quality can provide a lasting support for the domestic animationindustry. In the analysis on Japanese anime, I find that a variety of rhetorical devicesmake its humorous picture expression possible. Specific performance in sceneconstruction and script design makes Japanese TV anime much more attractive andmarvelous. Commonly used rhetorical techniques give Japanese TV anime its owncharacteristics. In the first two chapters of my thesis, I try to reveal the detailedrhetorical techniques used in Japanese TV anime. The rhetorical techniques have beenclassified through the analysis of a large number of anime works. In the latter part ofmy thesis, I attempt to explain the formation and application of rhetorical techniquesfrom a theoretical perspective. The research on rhetorical techniques of Japanese TVanime can provide some reference for the development of Chinese AnimationIndustry.In my thesis, I put forward the opinion that Japanese TV animation artists aregood at producing wonderful scene and making a variety of interesting points by thehelp of a variety of rhetorical techniques. In contrast with Japanese counterparts,domestic TV animation producing lacks its own language symbol system. In thisthesis, I attempt to generalize the language symbols and rhetorical techniques used inJapanese TV anime. I have selected many outstanding Japanese TV animation worksin order to reveal the commonly used rhetorical strategies. Furthermore, under thelight of powerful artistic expression in Japanese TV anime, I try to make an overview of the development of domestic anime industry and propose some beneficialsuggestion for its long term development. The techniques using in Japanese TV animeprovide me a whole new perspective toward the research on rhetorical skills ofaudio-visual language of Animation.The success of Japanese TV anime provides us some beneficial references for thedevelopment of domestic animation industry. A large number of Japanese anime workshave been analyzed to find its common theoretical kits in my thesis. I try to reveal thetechnical language of Japanese TV animation and the basic presentation of its artisticexpression, as well as the rhetorical techniques used in their works. In the end, Ihighlight the essentiality of rhetorical techniques in anime design and producing. Therational use of rhetorical techniques can strengthen the effect of animation expression.The research on rhetorical techniques in Japanese TV anime can provide Chineseanimation producer new thoughts toward animation production. Domestic animationindustry can only win the respect and support of audiences through the fullyconsideration of audiences’ needs.
