In the11thto the12thcentury, various forces began to rise in the Mediterranean.Such as western European feudal forces sought to expand ceaselessly and the Arab’sglory was gradually replaced by the Turks. The Byzantine Empire which at the centerof competition of all kinds of powers had started to increasingly decline. Its internal isriddled with insuperable contradictions; and its former honor had gone. The emperorAlexius I who ascend the throng by a military coup in1081try to open a new age ofthe development of empire, which through to the domestic innovational politicalreforms and flexible diplomatic means in foreign relations. The initiatives of Alexius Ibe implemented in the field of diplomacy are various. He is not confined in thediplomatic policies that continue to use, which is created by the former emperors ofthe Byzantine Empire. But he combined the characteristics of his rule and practicalsituation to develop and use in which base on those former policies.Alexius I do the best efforts on the foreign relations not only successfullydefended the Byzantine Empire territory and national interests; more to a certainextent, it changed the pattern of the Mediterranean and the course of history of world.Alexius I who use his the diplomatic policies relieved the frontier crisis of the empire;and he defeated the foreign forces of aggression; He maintained stable frontiers of theempire. Alexius I made the efforts in diplomacy to effectively support domesticpolitical reform and eased the empire suffered from the crisis to a certain extent andpaved the way for further development of the empire.The influences that Alexius I’s foreign policies for later generations including on:firstly, it heavy blew to the Normans, Patzinaks, Turkey and the Crusaders conquerthe pace. Secondly, Alexius I’s foreign policy not only has become an importantreference which for later Byzantine emperor governance but it influenced thedevelopment of the later Byzantine Empire. Thirdly, the foreign policies promoted thecountry of commercial city, led by Venice, to rise and boosted the Mediterranean tradeprosperity. Finally, Alexius I deal with the crusaders problems led to a major change in theregion of Mediterranean and Europe. It has changed the development of world history.
