Research On The Current Situation For Sign Language Interpreting Training In Dalian

Content:Sign language is a means of effective communication between hearing impaired and the outside world. With the continuous development and progress of society, it is increasingly important that enhances the hearing impaired ability to participate in social activities, in order to meet the deeply requirements of hearing impaired, promote the accessibility communication in all social workers, strengthen the training of sign language interpreting. Understanding the current situation and problems of sign language interpreting training in Dalian and putting forward the effective countermeasures is significance that creates conditions for barrier-free communication, expands the scope of the accessibility of hearing impaired, improves the quality of hearing impaired life, and accelerates the process of professional of interpreter for the deaf in Dalian.The survey research uses the whole sampling method, extracts sign language interpreting and training of61participants of vocational training center for disabled people in Dalian from June2012to December2012, and has carried on the questionnaire survey. The questionnaire is divided into four dimensions:(1) the basic situation of training personnel;(2) the status of training;(3) the situation of after training;(4) the opinion of training personnel. And the survey research interviews a lot of people, including relevant department people of responsible for Dalian sign language interpreting, two teachers, and some training personnel.The investigation found that is higher quality of training teachers, higher work enthusiasm, the fully classroom ready and higher student satisfaction. But the overall number of students of sign language interpreting training in Dalian is less and is in the majority with women. Participants are mostly service trade personnel, the rate youth participants is extremely low. Training personnel is less contact with hearing disabilities affects the sign language learning effect of them. Training form is less; the continuity is not good between the long-term training and short-term training.According to the above conclusions, the study puts forward some suggestions:(1) attach great importance to the family and friends learning and promoting sign language;(2) make full use of media publicity function and strengthen propaganda;(3) focus and support the development of sign language learning;(4) develop multidimensional in sign language interpreting training and expand the market;(5) perfect the training system, cohesion the short-and long-term training.
