Study On Jiang Yuru’s Sufi Doctrine And Sufi Practice

Islam began its localization in China since the day it arrived at the land. Islam gradually took root and has never severed from its original cultural context. In this process, Both Muslims and scholars substantially promoted Islamism’s localization in China. Among them, Sufi doctrine have played a significant role through their religion ideas and practices. Sufi doctrine is an important discipline of Islamic study, and has attracted great attention in domestic academia. Thousands of Sufi qubba in China show that Sufi doctrine has become an integral part of Chinese Islamic culture. Sufi preachers, as the center of the qubba culture, are also the essential part of Sufi cultural studies. And we should especially focus on the scholar-ascetics who have inherited from the Ming and Qing dynasties and have been interpreting Sufi practice within their own al-Tariqah. This paper examines the individual case of Jiang Yuru, an important figure of Quanyi qubba in Linxia. In order to explore the contributions and achievements of Sufi practicers with respect to the explanation and promotion of Sufi doctrine. The paper mainly describes the orthodoxy practiced by Jiang Yuru from the perspectives of Sufi doctrine and religious practice, conducting a comprehensive study on his works and religious propositions, his life and virtues, his requirements and admonitions to his followers, and the status quo of his followers. There has not been any study on the primary sources, i.e. the works of Chinese Sufi practicers in our country. The study on Jiang Yuru and his ideas and practices will fill the gap. Through the further division of the research object, the study on the al-Tariqah system will be further deepened, which is helpful for a better understanding of the cultural values of Sufi doctrine. Therefore, we can better understand the driving force, development course, current status and achievements of Sufi doctrine in China.
