Research On Ethical Investment

Ethical investment which is increasingly becoming a major investment in the field of contemporary investment mode is an investment mode for people between the moral and economic, social and ethical with continuously interaction exploration. Based on long-term value creation, it conforms to the requirements of scientific development through the practice of ethics spirit for the purpose of achieving social fairness and justice, harmonious coexistence of man and nature and free development of human being. The realization of sustainable economic development can promote the transformation of investment concept. This investment pattern which has been gradually accepted by investors is now taken seriously. However, it is difficult to ensure the definition of ethical investment theory, such as green investment, socially responsible investment and ethics in investment behavior and other related concepts. Meanwhile, the mining and generalization of the concept of ethical investment can’t satisfy the need of actual operation and the valuable goal of ethical investment also should be clarified. Furthermore, the inspection for ethical investment has a long time to go in practice. Therefore the paper would have practical implications for propelling the development of ethical investing and enriching the theoretical research results if the solutions for moral conflict had been put forward with academic analysis.This paper investigates the ethical investment under the financial development background with conventional investment as the mainstream. Firstly, it further make full research on ethical investment connotation with distinguishing conventional financial investment, green investment, socially responsible investment and ethics in investment behavior theory, and summarizes the characteristics of ethical investment; secondly, by reviewing the history, it sums up three angles of tools, activities and beliefs as to the development of ethical investment, and summarizes several vigorous promoting factors of the spreading of religious culture, rising of all sorts of social movements, active stimulation in financial market and governments and International Non-governmental Organizations concerns; thirdly, it further clarifies the unique value target of ethical investment, four aspects of promoting social harmony, maintaining individual dignity, enhancing environmental sustainability and securing investment effects included; fourth, it summarizes main approaches of social screening, shareholder advocacy and community finical institutions investing from horizon of ethical concerns; finally, it analyzes the ethical conflicts from the operational level, which are the conflict of goals between individuals and society, the conflict between personal beliefs and returns on investments, then proposes solutions to coordinating the conflicts through academic analysis, comprising the cultivation of ethical investment awareness, the development of corresponding ethical investment products and the establishment of ethical investment supporting system.
