Mario Vargas Llosa(1936-) is a world-known writer. He starts his works in1950s, sincethen he produced a series of influential novels, such as “The City and the Dogs”“The GreenHouse”“Long Conversation in Bar”“The Last War in the World” and so on. In2010, Llosawon the Nobel Prize in Literature, because his "cartographic depicting of power structure andthe delicate painted of individual resistance ".This paper takes violence of his three representative novels as the research object, whichare “The City and the Dogs”“Long Conversation in Bar”“The death of the rams”. And madea detailed analysis from his works, mainly from the form of violence, the characteristics of theviolence, the reasons for the violence those angles of the violence in his novels.This thesis is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter, we mainly discuss the formof violence in Llosa’s novel. The novels mainly describe three forms of violence, which arephysical violence, mental violence and extreme form of violence-man’s wrongfuldeath. Through the description of these violent forms, we can have a better learn that how dothe factors such as power, tyranny that take harm for Peruvian society. The second chaptermainly discusses the characteristics of the violence. It mainly shows that a repeatedlynarration to the same violence from multi-angle and deliberately amplification of terroratmosphere. The third chapter mainly discusses the reason of description of violence inLlosa’s novels. It thinks the long-term Colonial rule in Pure, the junta dictatorship and Llosa’sadolescent growth background and so on are the important reasons of his a large amount ofviolence description.We believe that Llosa’s novels by a large number of portrayal of the violence, fullyexpress that he exposes and criticizes the autocracy of Peruvian society, yearns for freedomand democracy.
