The conflict of entering government service and living in seclusion was a prominentphenomenon in Su-Shi’s life. The study chosen it as the breakthrough point of the researchand used the method of psychobiography, then to explore the origin of the conflict that fromtwo aspects: history and the social culture, and individual identity. And analyzed the defensemechanism in the process which Su-Shi from contradiction to the transcendence, to exploredthe personality sublimation process.The first research uncovered the relationship of entering government service and livingin seclusion through the motivation change of both sides of the conflict in the politicalundulate. And found that the motivation of both sides presented a positive correlation: themotivation presented high in the initial of entering government service, then both presenteddowntrend after the period of Huang Zhou. Su-Shi kept balance the conflict as he decided toentering government service first, then living in seclusion. When it failed, the conflictchanged into stalemate, and developed to Integration at last.The second research explored the origin of the conflict. Analyzed the origin in thehistory and social culture at first,then explored the Individual reasons of Su-Shi that from thedouble-identity which was developed from his childhood.The third research analyzed the defense mechanism in the mood dredge mode of Su-Shi:depression and sublimation, from the failed depression to sublimation, and accomplished withdouble-sublimation.
