Abe’s (1924-1993),is the celebrated postwar existentialism writer. He did agreat contribution to novel, poetry, literature and play writing. His works mainlyreflect people’s loneliness, desperation of modern life in capitalism society, as wellas the connection and alienation between people and society, which reflect hisworks’ topic.In his In the perspective of modernism, around works "The Woman in the Sand"and the hero image design and being combined with social objective observation, thispaper discusses the author’s searching consciousness, and goes deep into the weird&wonderful world that "The Woman in the Sand" created. By using contrastiveanalysis and cultural researching and other means, we analyze the main idea of thework. We also discuss its questioning style and the growth of the arts and theresearching routine of the writer. In this way, we have a deeper understanding of theloneliness of modern state which revealed by the writer with the modernist techniqueof expression. These all initiate us into thinking, exploring and digging into theessence of human nature constantly. These also make us look for ourselves that arelost, follow the objective nature, and create a larger space and possibility of theexistence of people.literature creation, he vividly reflects people’s characteristics living modechanged from ordinary subsistent behavior to existence behavior.Among thenumerous works of Kobo Abe,"The Woman in the Sand" is a better reflection of theabove literary theme. On the basis of describing his bumpy life experience andliterary creation process, the author pays more attention on the research of his works,related data, and historical background, in this dissertation employing the paperwriting methods such as, literature review, enumerating, contrasting, specificanalysis and general analysis methods to compare the difference between thepersonality traits and the traditional Japanese culture,aiming to explore the creation background,writing intention, and to investigate the reason for his widely differentwriting style of "The Woman in the Sand". Surrounding this masterpiece, our paperinterpret the implied meaning of Kobo Abe literature works from the perspective ofmodernism, and try to describe objectively the theme in a multiple perspectives. Inthis paper author focuses on the work theme, literary style and the characteristic ofart tendency for Kobo Abe, and wish that we could understand the somewhat obscureliterary world which he created for readers.
