Until today, nearly200years,people gradually formed a different view British impression.This thesis discusses the late Qing Dynasty Chinese literati class British conceptfrom the historical background, political, economic, legal, habits, social psychology,ethics, customs, and other aspects of the Sino-British diplomacy, the Chinese people’simage of the United Kingdom carried out an aspect analyzed. The whole chapter isdivided into five parts which are discussed in chronological order on the formationand diversification of the British concept of the late Qing literati, From1840until thelate Qing Dynasty, along with in-depth diplomatic relations with Britain, the Britishscholar’s view is also gradually evolving.Before the Opium War, groups of Chinese people’s attitude on Britain basicallyin a chaotic state. In addition to the individual scholars, awareness of non-activeattitude, and "Hua Yi" and "heavenly Centered Approach" effect, leading scholars arenot concerned about the UK. Opium War era, the image of the Chinese people in theUK still lack sufficient understanding and awareness, facing Britain’s "gunboatpolicy" shocks, the scholar’s outlook began to differentiate, there have been a numberof domestic open eyes to the world of enlightened literati group guide peopleunderstand the history and geography, customs and culture of British society,positioning the image of the United Kingdom from a macro perspective.
