Bi Feiyu, his method of writing has changed from avant-gardism to historicism in hiswriting career. But his novels have been concerned about the problem of human existence. In hisworks, the writing of the marginal man is always runs through his creation.Many results have been made by the researchers in the republic of letters, this article triesto write by the conception of the marginal man and focus on the analysis of several classicalnovels,for instance, Three sisters and Plain etc. At the same time, I will try my best to answerthe following questions, such as: Why on earth is such a marginal man in the novels of Bi Feiyu?How many kinds of marginal man in his works? And what kind of writing skills the author hasbeen used?This thesis includes four chapters.In the first part, the main purpose is to define the concept of the marginal man, and point outthe national and international view points. Mainly explain the formative process of concept, anddraw conclusions of own opinions. It’s worth noting that clearness of statement is veryimportant.The second part is divided into two sections. Firstly elaborate on the marginal identity of BiFeiyu, the aim is to obtain a general understanding of the author quickly. And then explain themarginal man in his novels, there are three main types of characters: downtrodden, stranger anddisabled.The third part mainly discusses the marginal man’s demands of life. How to survive? Theanswer has been a focus problem of the authors for a long time. They are looked as Alien by themainstream population, and their own desire. All of this, and eventually led to their tragic fate.The forth part centers on the artistic expression of the stories. The forth chapter tries toanalyze three major forms of expression, including daily life, psychological activity, and criticalrealism. My object is to show elegant artistic attraction of Bi Feiyu’s novels.Taking the conception of the marginal man as breach to consider revising the research for Bi Feiyu, and then analyze the characters shaped. We should try to obtain a more comprehensivewealth of understanding about the philosophy connotation and art the creation of novels by BiFeiyu. Thereby, we will have an objective evaluation in Bi Feiyu.
