A Study On The Comparison And Teaching Strategy Between Frequency Adverbs "L(?)"(屡) And "L(?)l(?)"(屡屡) In Modern Chinese

Based on semantic features, syntactic differences and pragmatic function,the whole thesis is focused on fully comparative study of “屡” and “屡屡” inmodern Chinese and also offers some advice on teaching strategy as well.Part one is firstly talking about the semantic analysis of frequency adverb“屡” and “屡屡”. Firstly, from the comparison of word meaning, the choice ofpredicate on “屡” is usually monosyllabic verb, and its syllable and rhythm areconcise and clear. But the predicate behind “屡屡” is double syllable verbs, andits rhythm is intensive. Secondly, from the comparison of themeasurement,“屡” is stronger than屡屡” Lastly, from the point of time features,generally “屡”and “屡屡” have no difference in internal time features. But inexternal time feature,“屡” is more abundant, and its internal time both canbefore the speaker said and also can coincide with the speaker said. However,the external time feature of “屡屡” can only be the former.Part two is talking about the syntactic differences of frequency adverb “屡”and “屡屡”. First of all,“屡” can only modify monosyllabic verb, which can beeither active or passive. And the collocation frequency of active monosyllabicverb with“屡” is higher than passive monosyllabic verb with“屡”. And it also canbe used as a overlap. In addition,“屡” can modify two monosyllabic verbs atthe same time in the structure of“屡V屡X”. In general,“屡屡” usually modifythe double syllable verbs of active or passive. Sometimes "地" can be usedbehind “屡”. Second,“屡” and “屡屡” can directly modify svo structure andpredicate-complement structure; but can’t match with adjectives. Thirdly,“屡屡”can only match with“着”、“了”、“过” in rare cases, and “屡”can’t appear in thesentence of “着”、“了”、“过” at all. Finally,“屡”and “屡屡” both can be used inthe past and now, but can’t be used in the future. Last but not the least,“屡” can be used in the structure of“屡V1不V2/A”, but “屡屡” can’t.Part three is talking about the pragmatic function. First, the emotionalcolor of “屡” is neutral, while it is derogatory in “屡屡”. Second, the pragmaticfunction of the two is objective description on events or behaviors in sentence.In the end,“屡” and “屡屡” can appear both in usual sentence and in eventsentence, and the frequency is higher in the usual sentence. Last but not theleast, on style characteristic,“屡”and“屡屡”mostly appear in masscommunication style and literary and artistic style; In rare cases, they are usedin everyday conversation style and style of science and technology. Here, itneed to point out that they can’t appear in the formal speech style neither.Furthermore,“屡” can appear in the official document transaction style, but “屡屡” can’t.Part four is talking about the teaching strategy of frequency adverb “屡”and “屡屡”.Teaching strategy mainly has four aspects. First, we muststrengthen comparative analysis; Second, strengthen pragmatic teaching;Third, pay attention to the oral practice; Fourth, Teachers should cultivate thestudents’ Chinese language sense. At the same time, teachers should beappropriate to select the frequency adverbs simultaneously in teachingprocess as well as teaching students in accordance of their aptitude.
