Guan Liang is a great people leading a peak of modern ink opera figures in the twentieth century. His creative life rich with stage sketches, painting, ink, etc. His ink opera figures capture opera characters for the creation motif and merge Chinese and western techniques, which admirably leap into the world perspective in uncomplicated and simple style.In this paper, take Guan’s representative ink opera figures as object of study and select two hundred surviving masterpiece to analyze deeply. We intent to interpret countless links between ink opera figures and opera art by spreadsheet analysis, comparative analysis, classic interpretation combining survival background and personal life experiences of Guan Liang. Guan’s figures reflect operas and are unity of form and spirit. He has a deep understanding of the characteristics of opera art itself. What’s more, he takes the opera characters into the creative range and to draw upon. Thus, his creating ink opera characters are valid, rhythmic, derived from shape and having strong historical background. Guan’s figures are not simply adding the two Chinese traditional painting and opera arts together, but capturing essentially interoperability of the both arts, so that let the created ink opera figures reach cathartic effect.In addition, Guan’s ink opera figures also contain strong cultural connotations and are common historical heritage of the two opera and Chinese painting arts categories. Little space is enough to get a glimpse of respected culture in opera art and is sufficient to demonstrate the integration of poetry, calligraphy, seal and painting in Chinese painting.
