Research On Huang Zhigang’s Historical Study Of Chinese Traditional Drama

Huang Zhigang made important contributions in the field of Chinese drama history in20th century. His academic activities throughout his life are mainly historical research on drama and folklore. He has written a lot and published hundreds of monograph and articles, which are greatly involved in drama origin, evaluation of the Story of Pipa, researches on Tang Xianzu, researches on Chinese drama tune, drama reform and other hot topics, which had caused large response at that time. However, the name Huang Zhigang is quite strange for the academic circles then and there are less research findings on Huang Zhigang, which is unbecoming with his excellent academic contribution. Besides, there are rare books or articles involving drama, even if it is described in some articles, the research is not comprehensive and profound. At present, in the academic circle, researches on Huang Zhigang’s Chinese drama history mainly just discuss the existing research results superficially, and lack profound analysis and overall grasp of research methods and research concepts.Based on this, the author proposes to take Huang Zhigang’s drama historical research as a perspective, select three special topics of Huang Zhigang’s drama history research as priority direction, such as the history of ancient drama, local opera, drama theory, and conclude and the summarize academic contributions and value of his historical research on drama, glimpse his positions in the field of historical research on Chinese drama in the20th century.
