The Research Of The Folk Characters In The Chinese Buddhist Fragments From Karakhoto Site Kept In UK

This paper adopts the method of exhaustion to compile folk Chinese words (by word count) in The Chinese Buddhist Fragments from Karakhoto Site Kept in UK. Applying wordbooks and dictionaries of rhyming words of Shuowen Jiezi, YuP.ian, Guangyun and Jiyun, this paper categorizes the compiled folk words into nine groups:simplified words, traditional words, altered strokes, modified radicals, conversion of cursive scripts into regular scripts, changed structures, assimilation, substitute by syllable and innovation. The folk words are interpreted by some general studying methods, such as analysis of radicals, induction and comparison, evidence finding, and examination of context. The result, which is a letter notation, is attached to the paper. The letter notation is divided into three parts:traditional words, folk words and simplified words.
