The Dialect Words In The Folk Songs Of Ezhou

As a branch of Chinese folk songs,Ezhou folk songs boast a wide variety of dialect vocabulary.However,few researches have conducted studies on the Ezhou folk songs.With focus mainly on such aspects as natural environment,music,literature and arts,they have seldom carried out a systematic research on the folk songs of Ezhou from the perspective of linguistics.Therefore,this paper,targeted at the dialect words of Ezhou folk songs,collects and collates Ezhou folk songs through investigation on field,literature research,data collection from the perspective of linguistics so that dialect words in Ezhou songs can be studied,thus inheriting and protecting Ezhou folk songs culture.The introduction is mainly about the research status of Ezhou folk songs,the reasons of choosing the topic,the research methods and materials and the related explanations of this paper.The first chapter introduces the general outline of dialect words in Ezhou folk songs.A total of 150 dialect words are collected,including astronomy and geography,seasonal time,agriculture,animals and plants,housewares,relatives,body,medical treatment,clothes,food,Red and White events,daily life,interconnection,games,actions,adjectives,adverbs,quantifiers,pronouns.The part of speech is dominated by verbs,altogether 70,and then nouns,55.From the semantics and morphology to make a comment,the former means comparison with Mandarin from the perspective of dialect words meaning,extended meaning and grammatical meaning,the latter gives a short introduction to the morpheme and makes come comparison between the morphemes.The second chapter introduces the speech system of Ezhou dialect,for example,there are 19 consonants,37 vowels and 6 tones in the Echeng district dialect,and then analyzes the ancient and modern correspondences of vowel tone.Besides,22 of the dialect words in the Ezhou folk songs are explained.The next three chapters are mainly about the analysis of the diachronic dialect system,varying from the inherited words,variant words to characteristic words.The third chapter teases out 59 words directly inherited from the ancient Chinese,and they are divided into three historical levels,the ancient times,the middle ages,and the modern times,which have ancient words of 22,23,and 14 respectively.The fourth chapter analyzes 31 kinds of variant words that have great changes in meanings or usages after passing on ancient Chinese words from such three aspects as extension,transfer in meaning and part of speech.Among them,word transfer accounts for 64.5%,enjoying the largest proportion and indicating that the dialect words,having gone through tremendous changes,mainly changes in meanings.The fifth chapter analyzes 35 characteristic words featuring local specialties in Ezhou folk songs,and they are divided into two categories,one is the noun characteristic words,according to the formation laws,which are classified based on the shape of objects,the color and sound of objects,the properties or uses of objects and other ways of forming things.The other one is non-noun characteristic words,which were newly-made to meet the needs of intercourse among people in this area for their long-standing life.Whereas they are rarely seen in other regions.The conclusion mainly reveals the shortcomings of the paper and what should be done in the days to come.
